This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Provide overall leadership for projects during the design phase, focusing on customer experience, financial performance, scheduling, estimating, design, and planning to ensure a seamless transition to construction operations.
• Direct the project team to achieve alignment in scope and budget, synchronize schedules, promote an integrated team environment, ensure construction readiness, and deliver outstanding financial results.
• Establish and oversee project budget and scope expectations, maintain budget trending logs, and manage all related communications and resources.
• Develop and manage project schedules and key milestones, holding team members accountable for achieving established targets.
• Ensure that all necessary regulatory approvals and permits are acquired.
• Guarantee proper alignment of design documentation and the project execution plan.
• Oversee the preparation of bid packages and contract manuals.
• Identify and address technical design and specification issues.
• Formulate a project margin plan and serve as the primary liaison with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners throughout the design phase, leading the overall project team.
• Monitor and evaluate project success factors for clients, design partners, and the Mortenson team.
• Promote an integrated team culture through effective communication and collaboration.
• Manage, mentor, and guide team members during the design phase to ensure clear direction and support their career development.
• Build and maintain relationships with individuals from various backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Lead by example, provide effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance effectively.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or a related field.
• A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
• Strong orientation towards teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Attention to detail necessary to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and widely accepted business practices.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management software, and relevant web applications.
• Demonstrated positive and professional demeanor, along with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively.
• Active listening skills and effective communication, with a willingness to consider diverse perspectives and feedback.
• Availability to travel up to 100% of the time.
