Design Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the creative quality for brand and design projects, including identity, web, and launch initiatives.

• Establish creative direction, enhance the work, and ensure that final outputs adhere to a high standard.

• Lead and mentor a diverse design team.

• Assist designers in honing their craft, strategic thinking, presentation skills, and self-sufficiency.

• Act as a senior creative partner for significant client engagements.

• Oversee reviews and presentations with founders and senior stakeholders.

• Foster trust, manage creative feedback, and navigate complex decisions.

• Engage in discovery processes and shape creative strategies for new business opportunities.

• Lead or assist with pitches and presentations.

• Convey Nen Creative’s perspective and assist in securing preferred projects.

• Enhance critiques, quality assurance, creative workflows, case studies, and brand-practice operations.

• Collaborate with project management and leadership as the studio expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience in branding, design, or creative positions.

• Preferably experience in a reputable branding or creative agency setting.

• Outstanding design judgment and craftsmanship.

• Extremely proficient in client-facing roles and presentations.

• Capability to articulate and defend creative choices, manage feedback, and cultivate trust.

• High sense of ownership and dependability.

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary; this is not a strictly 9–5 position.

• Ability to transition between high-level creative direction and hands-on execution.

• Must reside in the United States.
