This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.
• The VHA HEFP Special Engineering Program (SEP) oversees nationally prioritized, high-impact capital initiatives such as the Electronic Health Record Modernization, Facility Recapitalization, and Targeted Infrastructure programs. SEP establishes national priorities to ensure consistent execution and alignment across the enterprise. Gritter Francona is seeking a Construction System Engineer to assist with this potential project.
• Key Responsibilities and essential experience include:
• - Proficiency in construction and management of healthcare facilities, including specialized experience with healthcare environments.
• - Experience implementing effective management strategies throughout the planning, design, and construction phases of a project to control time, cost, and quality.
• - Knowledge and skills in medical center facility management, including the assessment and application of design requirements (specifically VA design requirements and Directives) and standards in project design and development.
• - Experience in developing strategies and plans for the integration of various utility systems/subsystems into a cohesive operational unit, ensuring all functional and performance capabilities are met.
• - Collaborate with development and user teams to evaluate risks, objectives, and requirements, ensuring that all aspects are adequately addressed throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
• - Experience in the implementation of large-scale commercial, federal, or MILCON infrastructure projects.
• - Familiarity with VHA standards, including Electrical and Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) design, with the ability to communicate the application of these standards in facility infrastructure projects.
• - Experience navigating SHPO, THPO, and NEPA procedures.
• - Capability to apply expertise and analytical skills in conducting construction forensics.
• - Expertise in construction management for projects of comparable size, scope, and complexity as a VA Medical Center or other healthcare facility.
• - Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited engineering university/college (e.g., Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)) and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, **OR** 8 years of specialized experience in healthcare facility and infrastructure design and construction.
• - CCM or CHFM certification is preferred.
• - Licensed Engineer is preferred.
• - PMP certification is preferred.
