Deputy Regional Head, Government Relations

Posted Jul 20

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Build and sustain strategic alliances with governmental leaders at local, state, and national levels, including agency personnel and elected officials; nonprofit and community organizations; business partners; media; and other potential collaborators to effectively implement Lime’s government relations and public affairs strategy throughout Latin America.

• Engage in media interviews and represent the organization at government and community forums; organize, participate in, and facilitate public events in the market, delivering content in both English and Spanish.

• In collaboration with regional leadership, assess, prioritize, and execute strategic initiatives aimed at maintaining and expanding Lime’s operations and fleet in key Latin American markets, focusing initially on Mexico and Chile.

• Partner with regional operations, campaigns, and policy leadership teams to formulate and implement a long-term government relations strategy that aligns with company priorities and key market objectives.

• Work together with communications and marketing teams on educational and safety initiatives, advertising and marketing efforts, and local media engagements.

• Evaluate and keep GR leadership and other internal stakeholders informed on regulatory, legislative, and political developments across Latin America, with a specific focus on Mexico City.

• Proactively identify potential issues that could affect operations in the region and collaborate with internal teams to resolve them swiftly and effectively.

• Lead cross-functional initiatives to develop models and best practices for stakeholder engagement, work planning, and execution across both emerging and established markets.

• Oversee consultants and external partners, establishing metrics for success and accountability.

• Assist in laying the groundwork for future team expansion in the region; although this role does not start with direct reports, the individual may eventually take on people management responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Fluency in both Spanish and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in each language; comfortable with public speaking and media engagement.

• A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in government affairs, public policy, campaigns, and/or community development within a government-related context.

• At least three (3) years of direct experience collaborating with municipal and/or state governments, campaigns, or public policy in Mexico City, ideally in recent years.

• Significant experience navigating municipal politics and city-level stakeholder environments; while national-level experience is valuable, substantial exposure to local government dynamics is crucial for this position.

• Experience working within or across other Latin American nations is highly preferred, with particular value placed on experience in Chile.

• A strong independent operator who can take ownership of issues from start to finish, exercising sound judgment while advancing initiatives in complex environments with minimal oversight.

• A multitasker adept at managing multiple priorities while executing projects in a fast-paced environment.

• An analytical and strategic thinker, capable of identifying high-impact opportunities and driving efficient growth.

• Willingness to travel as needed throughout the region.

• Previous professional experience in transportation and mobility is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Experience in people management is preferred, especially for candidates who have helped build or scale teams, although this role will initially function as an individual contributor.

🏝️ Benefits

• Lime will provide reasonable accommodations as needed.
