Department Head – Mental Health, Substance Use Worker Program

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead and guide instructors within the MHSUW program.

• Support the mentoring and performance management of faculty members.

• Ensure that curriculum delivery is consistent with program outcomes and meets industry standards.

• Monitor student progress and contribute to initiatives that promote student success.

• Collaborate with academic leadership on program development and ongoing improvement efforts.

• Engage in program evaluations, accreditation processes, and quality assurance activities.

• Assist with scheduling, course planning, and faculty coverage as required.

• Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in the mental health and substance use sector.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners and industry stakeholders.

• Attend meetings, events, and institutional initiatives as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completion of a Mental Health & Substance Use Worker Diploma program.

• A minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience in a career field related to mental health, substance use, or associated human services, such as social work, psychology, mental health, counseling, substance use studies, or other related behavioral health disciplines.

• Must be in good standing with current licensure or membership.

• A clear criminal record check as required by the Ministry of the Attorney General.

• Certification in online teaching or prior experience in an online teaching environment (preferred but not mandatory).

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and both written and verbal communication skills.

• Technical proficiency in executing moderate computer functions.

• Previous teaching, supervisory, or leadership experience is preferred.

• Experience in post-secondary education is considered an asset.
