Dental Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Posting CDT codes to the patient's ledger based on clinical notes provided by the provider in accordance with billing guidelines.

• Submitting insurance claims utilizing practice management software.

• Ensuring that claims are submitted with appropriate attachments such as x-rays, narratives, perio charting, and intraoral photos.

• Determining the reasons for claim rejections and implementing corrective actions.

• Identifying discrepancies such as missing payments and procedures in patient accounts.

• Responsible for reconciling all payments received by the practice through various payment methods.

• Processing prior authorizations for procedures on behalf of the patient.

• Auditing clinical notes by treatment coordinators and posting procedures to the patient's treatment plan.

• Compiling dental records in response to requests from patients and dental insurance companies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a Dental Office setting.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Dental Insurances, particularly PPO, DMO, DHMO (Capitation), and NYS Managed Care Programs.

• Understanding of In-network/Out-of-network benefits as well as fee for service structures.

• Possessing a working knowledge of General Dentistry and Orthodontics, including common procedures and treatments.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively convey information to colleagues.

• Excellent critical thinking abilities to assist in resolving business issues and making informed decisions.

• Proven capability to manage time effectively and prioritize projects to meet deadlines.
