Delivery Tech Lead – AWS Cloud Infrastructure, Migrations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical strategy for the engagement workstream, ensuring it reaches a clearly documented and agreed target state.

• Collaborate with customer technical leadership regarding architecture, sequencing, and risk management.

• Evaluate designs, code, and infrastructure as code while establishing engineering standards.

• Make and document architectural decisions, including analyzing trade-offs.

• Create project plans with achievable milestones and dependencies in partnership with the Engagement Manager and customer.

• Confirm staffing needs and skill mix, escalate any gaps, and provide mentorship to consultants.

• Ensure quality and completion of tasks, monitor milestones, remove obstacles for the team, and lead remediation efforts.

• Coordinate technical execution in an Agile delivery model with partner consultants and vendor teams.

• Contribute to the utilization of AWS and partner resources while refining delivery offerings.

• Design and implement foundational AWS environments utilizing Control Tower and Landing Zone Accelerator.

• Define and execute multi-account architecture using AWS Organizations, OUs, account vending, SCPs, centralized logging, and security tools.

• Implement IAM, Identity Center, guardrails, and security baselines.

• Lead the discovery and assessment of on-premises estates, including dependency mapping, right-sizing, and planning for migration waves.

• Choose and drive migration strategies for workloads, whether through rehost or replatform methods.

• Oversee the replication of on-premises and VMware virtual machines into EC2, including image conversion and OS/driver remediation.

• Direct the replatforming process to managed AWS services such as RDS, ALB/NLB, and CloudFront.

• Own the design of hybrid connectivity, involving Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, Transit Gateway, DNS, and Active Directory.

• Supervise storage and database migrations while ensuring data integrity.

• Establish standards for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), pipeline automation, and operational readiness.

• Produce design documents, migration runbooks, diagrams, decision records, and hand-over guides.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in designing and operating infrastructure.

• More than 3 years of experience leading a technical workstream on customer-facing projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Hands-on experience with AWS in a production environment.

• Proven experience in establishing engagement technical strategies and collaborating with customer technical leadership.

• Experience in building AWS foundational environments using Control Tower, Landing Zone Accelerator, AWS Organizations, and multi-account architecture.

• Experience in cloud migrations; significant experience with large-scale, multi-wave migrations is a strong advantage.

• Practical knowledge of rehost and replatform migration techniques.

• Experience or substantial working knowledge of AWS Transform for VMware is a considerable plus.

• Hands-on experience with AWS Migration Hub, AWS Application Migration Service (MGN), and VM Import/Export.

• Strong foundational knowledge of AWS networking, including VPC design, routing, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect/VPN, and DNS.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and AWS CDK.

• Proficiency in at least one scripting language: Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Current capability to review code and Infrastructure as Code.

• A current AWS certification is required.

• AWS Solutions Architect – Professional or DevOps Engineer – Professional certifications are preferred.
