This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Assist the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by sharing data with researchers who are exploring methods to enhance quality and decrease costs of care for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries with chronic illnesses.
• Incorporate new data sources into the CMS Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse (CCW).
• Construct, optimize, and sustain data views that combine new and existing datasets.
• Design and facilitate ETL workflows in a cloud data warehouse environment, such as Snowflake.
• Provide support for production operations, including rotation-based ETL load duties that may take place during off-hours or weekends.
• Document procedures and business logic for auditing, troubleshooting, and onboarding purposes.
• Work collaboratively with data analysts, technical leads, and CMS partners.
• Identify and address database or performance challenges while contributing to the ongoing enhancement of data systems.
• A bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Database Developer, preferably within a government or healthcare context.
• Proficient hands-on experience with SQL, Python, ETL development, and Snowflake data warehouse principles.
• Familiarity with AI or Machine Learning applications for data quality and anomaly detection.
• A solid understanding of data management best practices (including permissions, recovery, security, and monitoring).
• Knowledge of front-end requirements with the ability to convert business needs into backend solutions.
• Familiarity with development tools such as the .NET Framework, JavaScript, HTML, and Oracle.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving complemented by strong communication abilities.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
• Acceptable outcomes from a background investigation.
