Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Turkey.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage enterprise database systems in both on-premises (MSSQL Server) and cloud (Azure SQL) environments, ensuring optimal performance, high availability, and data integrity.

• Monitor the performance of databases, recognize and resolve performance bottlenecks, and enhance query efficiency.

• Manage database security by establishing access controls, implementing encryption, and conducting regular security audits.

• Administer database backups, disaster recovery plans, and maintain data integrity through routine maintenance and testing procedures.

• Collaborate with software developers to design and implement database architectures that enhance application functionality.

• Engage in capacity planning, resource utilization assessments, and forecasts for future database needs.

• Address and resolve database-related incidents and outages promptly.

• Assist with data migration activities across environments (from on-premises to Azure, version upgrades, and consolidations).

• Maintain thorough documentation of database configurations, schemas, procedures, and operational runbooks.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technology field is preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Database Administrator positions within production environments.

• Relevant certifications in database administration (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional) are advantageous.

• Experience in database performance tuning and troubleshooting is essential.

• Proficiency in database administration with a strong emphasis on MSSQL is required.

• A solid understanding of database architecture, design principles, and query optimization techniques.

• Knowledge of database security best practices and their implementation.

• Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.

• Basic knowledge of Oracle and Postgres administration is a plus.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools is beneficial.

• Experience in regulated industries (financial services, telecommunications) is highly desirable.

• Understanding of high availability and replication technologies.

• Proficient in professional-level English, both written and verbal; daily collaboration with teams occurs in English.

• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
