This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Formulates recommendations and performs analyses to assist departmental and business line strategic initiatives.
• Collaborates with clients, technical personnel, and team members to strategize, design, develop, implement, and enhance applications, scripts, procedures, and metadata for relational databases.
• Advocates for enterprise data management best practices and offers insights on data architecture frameworks and standards.
• Engages in comprehensive architecture and data warehouse lifecycle management activities, providing thoughtful recommendations.
• Handles multiple requests simultaneously and strategically, prioritizing tasks as needed.
• Designs, develops, and implements the data architecture for a data warehouse, including high-performance ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools and infrastructure.
• Identifies and utilizes internal and external data sources to improve analytical capabilities.
• Reverse engineers data specifications from source systems through data discovery, analysis, and various techniques.
• Creates and maintains Data Models, including an Enterprise Data Dictionary.
• Establishes processes and procedures for monitoring data quality, completeness, redundancy, and enhancement.
• Collaborates with application and infrastructure design architects to offer guidance for development and release activities.
• Shapes technology direction and/or modifications to align with business strategies.
• Influences the selection of hardware and software product standards and the design of standard configurations; contributes significantly to market-driven technology roadmaps and architectural frameworks.
• Reviews major architectural designs to ensure they are consistent, maintainable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions.
• Facilitates retrospectives and identifies opportunities for experiments and proofs of concept.
• Troubleshoots all ETL processes and resolves issues efficiently within IT service level agreements.
• Exemplifies leadership by engaging directly in complex data challenges and Information Management projects to extract deep insights from data.
• Oversees business intelligence/data warehouse security as well as data loading and implementation strategies.
• Guides enterprise projects through all stages of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)/Agile process.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7-12 years of directly relevant experience in Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence.
• 3-8 years of practical experience in developing ETL, reporting, and Data Visualization solutions using tools such as SAP Data Services, Informatica, Data Stage, Microsoft SSIS packages, QlikView, Tableau, etc.
• 1-5 years of experience with Guidewire Data Management tools.
• Proficient in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling; dimensional modeling preferred.
• Extensive experience in software development methodologies and best practices.
• Familiarity with business operations, preferably in property and casualty insurance.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including active listening, problem-solving, and effective communication with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Proven experience working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Experience mentoring junior developers, quality assurance personnel, and business analysts.
• Detail-oriented with self-discipline, a strong sense of ownership and accountability, and a drive for results.
