This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Review patient records to verify that documentation supports accurate billing and coding, including diagnoses, services provided, and medical necessity.
• Identify any gaps in documentation that could affect reimbursement, compliance, or patient care, and collaborate with providers to address them.
• Assist providers in understanding the documentation requirements related to coding standards (e.g., CPT, ICD-10) and payer guidelines.
• Conduct regular chart audits to confirm the accuracy and consistency between clinical documentation and billing data.
• Work together with the billing department to ensure the submission of clean claims and minimize denials or rework.
• Offer real-time or retrospective feedback to clinicians to enhance documentation practices.
• Monitor trends in documentation errors, coding challenges, and claim denials, reporting findings to leadership.
• Support adherence to HIPAA, state regulations, and specific payer requirements.
• Create training materials and educate medical and clinical staff on best practices for documentation, billing, and coding.
• Assist in managing organizational projects as needed.
• Help evaluate and standardize operations, policies, and procedures.
• Provide training and education to staff upon request.
• Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's degree in health information management, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field.
• Required: High School Diploma/GED.
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare data validation, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), medical billing/coding, or chart auditing.
• Experience with NextGen software is preferred.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.
• Experience with electronic health care records is necessary.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to present and communicate confidently and effectively.
• Capable of working independently, collaboratively, and proactively to achieve work objectives.
• Strong computer skills are required.
• Proficient in basic data analysis and reporting, including spreadsheets, charts, and diagrams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and managing projects through a complete cycle process.
• Must possess a Fingerprint clearance card or be eligible to obtain one.
