Data Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and uphold data security measures across cloud platforms, applications, databases, and data pipelines to safeguard sensitive and regulated information.

• Develop and manage data protection functionalities, including data classification, encryption, key management, data loss prevention (DLP), and access governance.

• Monitor, investigate, and address data security incidents, performing root-cause analysis and leading remediation initiatives.

• Collaborate with engineering, platform, and compliance teams to integrate security requirements into system architecture, software development, and data lifecycle processes.

• Evaluate security risks, conduct technical reviews, and assist in compliance with regulatory and industry standards such as GDPR, ISO 27001, NIS2, and customer security mandates.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of practical experience securing cloud-based environments, encompassing identity and access management, encryption, logging, and security monitoring.

• In-depth understanding of data security principles, including data classification, DLP, key management, secrets management, data privacy, and secure data handling practices.

• Proven experience in implementing security controls for databases, data warehouses, APIs, and data pipelines, with the capability to identify and mitigate data exposure risks.

• Expertise in security tools and automation, such as SIEM, vulnerability management, infrastructure-as-code, scripting (e.g., Python, Bash), and cloud security platforms.

• Competence in conducting security risk assessments, investigating incidents, articulating technical findings clearly, and effectively collaborating with engineering, platform, and compliance teams.
