Data Scientist – Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and execution of innovative data science solutions that bolster enterprise cybersecurity operations.

• Create data models and automation capabilities that improve security monitoring, detection, threat hunting, User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA), and the correlation of cybersecurity information throughout the ICE enterprise.

• Architect and implement tailored algorithms, analytical processes, and data frameworks for intricate enterprise-scale datasets utilized for modeling, data mining, research, and cyber defense.

• Establish advanced analytical capabilities that facilitate predictive risk analysis, risk identification, risk mapping, cyber risk cost analysis, supply chain threat identification, and User and Entity Behavior Analytics.

• Design and construct data pipelines and workflows that ingest, normalize, correlate, and analyze information from various disparate security and enterprise data sources.

• Create machine learning algorithms and models to detect abnormal behavior, emerging cyber threats, attack patterns, and other signs of malicious activity.

• Generate metrics and trending analyses that encompass enterprise security anomalies, threat actor activities and impacts, user behavior anomalies, and other pertinent cybersecurity data.

• Leverage data science and automation to enhance cyber threat hunting initiatives, thereby increasing analytical maturity and minimizing manual investigative efforts.

• Integrate data science modeling into operational threat hunting and back predictive threat simulations aimed at estimating cyber attack probabilities and potential costs or impacts.

• Develop capabilities that link cyber threat intelligence with assets, users, and security events, assessing the possible financial and operational repercussions of cyber incidents.

• Assist in the creation of custom Indicators of Compromise and Indicators of Attack detection and alerting systems.

• Produce visualizations, dashboards, and other high-visibility reporting tools that effectively communicate complicated cybersecurity data, trends, risks, and analytical insights to both technical and leadership audiences.

• Design and implement automation that supports security tool administration, cybersecurity analytics, customized searches, and security applications.

• Facilitate the integration of analytical capabilities with Security Information and Event Management and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response platforms.

• Enhance ICE User and Entity Behavior Analytics capabilities, along with the development, integration, optimization, and maintenance of security data analytics functionalities.

• Identify and address critical data quality, integrity, architecture, and analytical challenges that impact cybersecurity capabilities.

• Aid in the development of repeatable and scalable analytical processes that enhance detection, investigation, response, and proactive defense operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s or PhD degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Economics is required, OR additional experience exceeding the minimum may be considered in lieu of the required academic qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in machine learning engineering, data science, data project engineering, or software development related to data solutions.

• Proven experience in designing technical solutions and leading teams in the execution of the technical design.

• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Python, JSON, C++, Java, R, or Scala.

• Familiarity with containerization tools, including Kubernetes and Docker.

• Experience in architecting and designing innovative analytic methods utilizing machine learning techniques.

• Background in developing and supporting data-oriented tasks for cybersecurity solutions, including creating machine learning algorithms, data models, or architecture strategies for cyber defense purposes.

• Expertise in developing and engineering data workflows to consolidate disparate data sources and derive data-driven insights.

• Capability to design and develop automation for security tool management and construct customized searches and applications.

• Ability to produce high-visibility reporting on cybersecurity data through the creation of data visualizations and/or dashboards.

• Must hold at least a Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) certification.

• Must be eligible for a Secret clearance.
