Data Scientist – Mid-Level

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Lead the creation of analytical, statistical, machine learning, and applied AI solutions tailored for business and client applications.

• Convert business inquiries into analytical methodologies, modeling strategies, hypotheses, features, evaluation techniques, and quantifiable results.

• Develop and implement analyses and models for segmentation, forecasting, propensity modeling, anomaly detection, experimentation analysis, recommendation-focused analysis, and decision support.

• Work autonomously with structured, semi-structured, and selected unstructured datasets to extract insights and craft business-relevant solutions.

• Construct, enhance, and sustain notebook-based workflows and reproducible analytical assets in Databricks and other cloud environments.

• Utilize machine learning and AI techniques for classification, scoring, summarization, pattern recognition, feature generation, and enhancement of business processes.

• Facilitate LLM-enabled and AI-assisted workflows for business analysis, insight creation, and decision-making support.

• Engage in model training, tuning, validation, performance assessment, and comparative evaluation.

• Document assumptions, methodologies, feature logic, model choices, evaluation standards, limitations, and findings thoroughly.

• Collaborate with Data Analysts, AI Scientists, AI Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Data Engineers, and Architects.

• Enhance the reproducibility, evaluation practices, documentation, and scalability of analytical workflows.

• Adhere to governance, privacy, and responsible data and AI utilization standards.

• Take part in client-facing discussions, articulating methodologies, findings, limitations, and implications in clear business terms.

• Implement approved AI-assisted workflows while ensuring human accountability for validation, interpretation, and recommendations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.

• Solid working knowledge of statistics, probability, machine learning, and analytical problem-solving.

• Capability to independently manage ongoing data science workstreams and deliver consistent results with minimal supervision.

• Strong comprehension of supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, model evaluation, error analysis, and framing analytical problems.

• Proficient in working effectively with structured, semi-structured, and selected unstructured datasets.

• Familiarity with experimentation design, model validation, and interpreting analytical and predictive outputs within business contexts.

• Increasing familiarity with applied AI methods, including LLM-enabled workflows, text-oriented analysis, and AI-assisted feature extraction or classification.

• Strong knowledge of notebook-based development and collaborative data science workflows, particularly with Databricks.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams in the Americas, navigating various functions, time zones, and client contexts.

• Proficiency in Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, SciPy, Statsmodels, XGBoost, and LightGBM.

• Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark, and MLflow.

• Knowledge of SQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, and cloud data platforms.

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, Vertex AI, Microsoft Azure, Azure AI services, and Azure Machine Learning.

• Experience with OpenAI-compatible APIs or enterprise LLM platforms, prompt evaluation, embedding, text analysis, and unstructured data processing.

• Proficiency in Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Looker, Power BI, and Tableau.

• Experience with Git, GitHub, and Azure DevOps.
