Data Scientist 5 – Media Science DSE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the inaugural data scientist for Netflix Animation Studios.

• Collaborate with leadership to establish and prioritize the studio's metrics and scientific agenda.

• Explore ambiguous, greenfield questions and provide analyses and scientific insights that promote data-driven decision-making.

• Oversee the comprehensive measurement agenda in conjunction with data engineering.

• Create data models and formulate new metrics, analyses, forecasts, and interpretations.

• Perform slate analysis to identify factors affecting show efficiency.

• Develop scenario planning models to measure the effects of schedule adjustments on production and workforce allocation.

• Construct dashboards and scorecards to track show progress and identify potential risks.

• Deliver metrics, models, and analytical findings to leadership.

• Work alongside data scientists, analytics engineers, and data engineers within Media Science DSE.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess an advanced degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

• Have 8+ years of experience working as a data scientist.

• Demonstrate a successful history of developing and implementing measurement frameworks, models, and visualization products that directly influence business decisions.

• Experience in creating scenario planning, forecasting, or optimization models in complex operational environments with limited resources.

• Exhibit strong quantitative and statistical insight.

• Capable of transitioning between exploratory analysis, new metric development, model creation, and applied problem-solving.

• Proficient in translating vague business inquiries into structured analytical workflows.

• Adept at designing dashboards and visualizations for business leadership audiences.

• Possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Ability to function with minimal supervision in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

• Show interest in contributing to a film studio and establishing a new data science capability from scratch.
