Data Science Fellow – AI, NLP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and execute AI/NLP techniques for extracting knowledge from biomedical literature and structured protocols.

• Create benchmark datasets, annotation standards, and evaluation frameworks for scientific information extraction.

• Develop and assess RAG, in-context learning, fine-tuning, graph matching, entity normalization, and knowledge graph query workflows.

• Investigate extraction inaccuracies, model performance, retrieval issues, grounding quality, and biological ambiguities.

• Work alongside software engineers to incorporate research methodologies into functional tools and reproducible workflows.

• Partner with organoid biologists and subject matter experts to convert biological protocol knowledge into computable formats.

• Draft manuscripts, conference submissions, technical documentation, design specifications, and open-source research contributions.

• Assist in defining research milestones, evaluation metrics, and publication strategies for protocol intelligence initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, NLP, machine learning, data science, or a similar discipline.

• Proficient programming skills in Python.

• Proven research background in NLP, information extraction, LLMs, RAG, transformers, structured prediction, or scientific text mining.

• Capability to design controlled computational experiments, produce benchmark datasets, and conduct thorough result analyses.

• Familiarity with biological, biomedical, or scientific datasets.

• Excellent written communication skills and a passion for publishing methods-oriented research.

• Comfort working within complex, dynamic research codebases and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
