Data Platform Engineer, Mid-level

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and analyze current CI/CD pipelines to determine if modifications or new developments are necessary.

• Enhance infrastructure-as-code by adhering to repository patterns.

• Implement data engineering and governance standards, which include naming conventions, access control, and data retention policies.

• Develop self-service tools based on established patterns.

• Create and manage a template repository that includes CI, IaC, and governance configurations.

• Design modules that simplify the creation of a new pipeline to a single command execution.

• Produce practical documentation.

• Manage the access request process for data resources.

• Oversee the template repository and IaC modules while making strategic roadmap decisions.

• Report directly to the Data Team Leader.

• Collaborate with teams across data engineering, backend development, and infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Have independently managed a deployment path from start to finish, including writing the pipeline, resolving production issues, and creating the runbook.

• Capability to analyze unfamiliar code, articulate its functionality, and pinpoint potential failure areas.

• Approximately 2 years of relevant professional experience.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL for daily tasks.

• Experience with Docker.

• Familiarity with cloud services; AWS should be a known concept.

• Comfort with transitioning between data engineering, backend development, and infrastructure tasks.

• Ability to utilize AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, or Cursor and justify the generated results.

• This position does not involve frontend development or ML research; model training is not required.
