Data Integration Engineer, EHR

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain HL7 interfaces (ADT, ORU, ORM, etc.) for both real-time and batch data exchanges with customer EHR systems.

• Establish file-based and HL7-based integrations to satisfy customer onboarding schedules and scalability requirements.

• Develop and oversee ETL pipelines for the transformation and validation of clinical data.

• Collaborate with customer IT teams to outline integration requirements, resolve issues, and ensure successful implementation.

• Analyze and verify data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.

• Coordinate with product, engineering, and customer success teams to synchronize integration efforts with platform capabilities and customer objectives.

• Document integration workflows, data mappings, and technical specifications.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare data integration, ideally with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.

• Strong practical experience with HL7 v2.x messaging standards.

• Experience with interface engines like Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, or Cloverleaf.

• Expertise in ETL tools and scripting languages, including Python and SQL.

• Knowledge of healthcare data standards, including FHIR, CDA, and CCD.

• Understanding of privacy regulations, such as HIPAA and GDPR.

• Ability to independently analyze complex data sets and troubleshoot integration challenges.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, particularly in customer-facing technical discussions.

• Experience working in dynamic, agile environments with cross-functional teams.

• Experience integrating with cloud-based platforms and APIs is highly preferred.

• Knowledge of surgical workflows and clinical documentation practices is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with software engineering practices, version control systems such as Git, deployment processes, and release workflows is a plus.
