This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and manage the enterprise data catalog, ensuring the inclusion of metadata standards along with comprehensive ownership, SLA, classification, lineage, and contractual documentation.
• Integrate automated lineage capture across ingestion pipelines, medallion transformations, and the publication of data products.
• Create and uphold pipeline-level data quality rules, along with alerting and remediation workflows.
• Configure governance controls in Snowflake, including RBAC, row- and column-level security, classification tags, masking policies, and access enforcement measures.
• Establish access request and approval workflows for domain connections.
• Implement governance for event contracts, schema standards, registries, retention policies, and access protocols.
• Develop governance dashboards and associated metrics.
• Formulate and implement the enterprise data governance strategy, along with standards, roadmap, operational model, and policy lifecycle.
• Oversee agendas related to data ownership, stewardship, quality, metadata, lineage, cataloging, classification, retention, and policy adoption.
• Define and execute federated product review gates and governance standards.
• Design policy-aware AI and Agent Operations controls, which include data guardrails, sensitive-data handling, traceability, auditability, and secure write-back patterns.
• Align governance policies with leaders in Security, Risk, Legal, and Architecture.
• Drive governance KPIs and performance measures.
• Collaborate directly with platform engineers during delivery sprints to assess designs and implement controls.
• Assist domain teams in the federated contribution model and review submitted products.
• Define governance requirements for business definitions, reference data, master data, and entity resolution.
• Create workflows that minimize friction while upholding platform quality and control standards.
• Build and lead a small governance team, including hiring and developing governance engineers and stewards.
• Influence business and technology stakeholders to foster data accountability and disciplined data practices.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 8 or more years of experience in data governance, data platform engineering, data architecture, analytics engineering, or related roles.
• A minimum of 3 years in a leadership or lead role responsible for governance programs, stewardship models, or cross-functional data operating frameworks.
• Proven experience in building and managing governance capabilities within a modern cloud data platform environment.
• Practical Snowflake governance experience, including RBAC, row/column-level security, classification tags, masking policies, and access governance.
• Hands-on experience with implementing data catalogs and lineage tools.
• Experience in writing and managing data quality rules within data pipelines.
• Familiarity with governing event contracts and schemas in streaming or messaging environments, such as Kafka or MuleSoft.
• Experience in defining and executing standards for data product governance.
• Background in designing and implementing governance controls for AI or agent-based use cases.
• Experience working closely with an engineering team and participating in delivery sprints.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles.
• Experience in regulated, security-sensitive, or compliance-driven environments is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong systems thinking capabilities.
• Practical knowledge of governance for AI, automation, and agent-based execution.
• Ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and applicable standards.
