Data Governance Analyst – MS Purview

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create, populate, and sustain the enterprise business glossary and data catalog within Microsoft Purview.

• Manage the tools to ensure the catalog remains current post-launch.

• Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and subject matter experts to establish and publish unified definitions for essential data elements.

• Resolve conflicting data definitions to a single agreed-upon source and uphold metadata standards.

• Capture and maintain comprehensive end-to-end lineage for critical data elements throughout the entire pipeline.

• Establish change impact analyses to identify and alert about affected downstream reports, models, and consumers.

• Convert business risks into testable data quality rules.

• Implement automated and monitored data quality checks with dashboards, thresholds, and exception routes.

• Profile data and lead root cause analyses on quality issues to resolution.

• Oversee the data quality issues log from start to finish.

• Support preventative controls at the point of data capture or ingestion.

• Assist in the implementation of the data governance framework, policies, and standards.

• Produce clear, user-friendly documentation and guidance.

• Aid in embedding the ownership and stewardship model.

• Contribute to governance KPIs and KRIs.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and data leadership to establish and adopt new processes and artifacts.


⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience, generally 3+ years, in Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Management, or a closely related role within a large or complex organization.

• Tangible hands-on experience with at least two of the following: Business Glossary, Data Catalog, Data Lineage, or Data Quality.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview is preferred.

• Practical experience in implementing or configuring a data governance or cataloging tool.

• Proven capability to bridge the gap between business and technology.

• Experience in an S4/Hana or SAP environment is preferred.

• Background in a regulated industry is advantageous.

• Experience with dedicated data quality or observability tools is preferred.

• Exposure to master and reference data management is desirable.

• Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
