Data Governance Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the development, implementation, and upkeep of the CMM Data Governance framework, alongside its policies, standards, procedures, and operating models.

• Define, document, and sustain data standards, naming conventions, definitions, structures, reference data, and governance necessities.

• Formulate governance standards in alignment with enterprise architecture, security, privacy, records management, and regulatory obligations.

• Establish models for data ownership, stewardship, accountability, and decision rights.

• Collaborate with Data Stewards, Data Owners, business stakeholders, and teams focused on security, privacy, legal, records management, and technology.

• Classify and manage data assets according to their sensitivity, criticality, and business value.

• Convert policies and regulatory mandates into actionable controls and procedures.

• Identify gaps in governance, risks, and instances of non-compliance and facilitate remediation efforts.

• Support governance for data access, sharing, usage, and lifecycle.

• Engage in governance councils, working groups, and data domain forums.

• Create governance documentation, standards, procedures, decision logs, and related artifacts.

• Monitor the adoption and effectiveness of governance policies and standards.

• Aid in assessments, audits, and compliance reviews.

• Contribute to governance roadmaps, maturity evaluations, and ongoing improvement initiatives.

• Define roles, responsibilities, and RACI models related to data ownership.

• Develop training materials and conduct sessions to raise awareness about data governance.

• Track, analyze, and present governance metrics, maturity, and compliance status to leadership and governance councils.

⛳️ Requirements

• MA/MS degree with over 5 years of general experience in information systems and more than 7 years of specialized experience.

• Proven experience in supporting enterprise data governance initiatives.

• Ability to translate governance policy into effective operational processes within delivery environments.

• Strong knowledge of data quality management, metadata practices, and stewardship frameworks.

• Experience in governing high-sensitivity or regulated data with defined compliance expectations.

• Familiarity with data quality profiling, monitoring techniques, and common tools.

• Experience in defining and governing enterprise data standards across various teams and delivery pods.

• Solid background in data modeling, integration patterns, and change data capture concepts.

• Experience with metadata and catalog tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Qlik.

• Practical experience in implementing glossary and lineage capabilities in contemporary data platforms.

• Ability to convert technical metadata into business-friendly definitions and documentation.

• Experience in implementing data privacy controls in regulated or high-sensitivity settings.

• Knowledge of access management and the operationalization of privacy requirements.

• Experience collaborating with security, governance, and engineering teams to ensure compliant data sharing.

• Familiarity with Federal Government or regulated environments.

• Experience with enterprise data governance frameworks and operational models.

• Data management certification is preferred.

• No requirement for U.S. citizenship.
