Data Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Senior Data Engineers and CDP Engineers.

• Spearhead recruitment efforts for the Data Engineering department.

• Cultivate a culture focused on engineering excellence.

• Own and manage the technical roadmap for Airalo’s data infrastructure.

• Influence decisions regarding data-platform architecture.

• Connect the data platform with MarTech and external ecosystems.

• Collaborate with Software Engineering to ensure data quality at the source.

• Lay the groundwork for real-time data capabilities.

• Create systems that emphasize data quality, privacy, and governance standards.

• Shift the team's workflow from reactive problem-solving to a structured, agile delivery model.

• Supervise the maintenance and optimization of high-performance data pipelines.

• Function as a strategic partner to the Analytics Engineering Manager and Data Director.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience as a Data/Software Engineer, including at least 2 years in managing and scaling data engineering teams.

• Excel in low-maturity or greenfield data environments.

• Comprehensive, hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and cloud-native data warehouses (preferably BigQuery, or Snowflake/Redshift).

• Significant experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster), ELT pipelines (Fivetran, dbt), and distributed data processing frameworks (Apache Spark, Flink).

• Practical experience utilizing AI tools to enhance engineering workflows.

• Proficient coding skills in Python (and/or Scala) and advanced SQL knowledge across both relational and non-relational databases.

• Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and observability/monitoring for data pipelines.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative discipline.
