This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Design and create innovative, data-driven applications that enhance clinical and operational healthcare workflows.
• Develop scalable batch and streaming ELT/ETL pipelines, transformation and enrichment processes, provisioning layers, and user interfaces.
• Ensure the reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness of Providence’s enterprise data platform.
• Automate and monitor production pipelines across cloud services and Snowflake.
• Diagnose failures, conduct root-cause analyses and post-mortems, and minimize MTTR.
• Coordinate schedules and dependencies utilizing tools such as Ctrl-M.
• Manage connectors in Fivetran/HVR.
• Create operational automations using SQL, Python, and shell scripting on Linux.
• Implement logging, alerting, data-quality checks, audits, and runbooks.
• Enhance Snowflake performance and optimize spending.
• Enforce access controls and secrets management while supporting compliance and audit requirements.
• Collaborate with Product, Platform, Architecture, engineering, and analytics teams.
• Document processes and provide consistent rotational on-call support.
• Mentor junior Data Engineers and explore emerging technologies to create repeatable processes and templates.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Senior-level, hands-on management of production data operations.
• At least one year of relevant experience with Snowflake, CTRL-M, and ADF.
• Proficient in SQL, Python, and shell scripting (Bash/PowerShell) on Linux.
• Familiarity with cloud computing and relational data warehousing.
• Understanding of OLAP/dimensional modeling and RDBMS principles.
• Knowledge of semi/unstructured data formats such as JSON and Parquet, as well as API integrations.
• Experience with open-source ELT/ETL tools.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD fundamentals for data deployments.
• Proven experience in building and managing data ingestion pipelines from various sources into cloud data platforms.
• Working knowledge of Snowflake database objects, warehouses, and basic query optimization.
• Ability to work within 65 miles of Renton, Redmond, Seattle, Portland, Napa, Irvine, or Lubbock.
• A Master’s degree is preferred.
