Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and oversee scalable data warehouse and data lake systems, both on-premises and in the cloud.

• Implement and sustain data modeling frameworks utilizing UML and various design tools.

• Construct and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines to integrate a variety of data sources.

• Ensure the ingestion, transformation, and loading of data in real-time and batch modes.

• Optimize query performance and address latency issues to guarantee data accessibility, performance, and usability.

• Develop and enhance data validation processes and analytical tools to facilitate data-driven decision-making.

• Create data governance methodologies, including a data glossary, security protocols, and access management.

• Ensure adherence to internal and external data standards and regulations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data science, business intelligence, product management) to identify business needs and convert them into technical specifications.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers.

• Design and implement monitoring and alert systems to ensure data quality, system stability, and optimal performance.

• Proactively tackle technical challenges and system limitations to minimize downtime.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.

• 3+ years of relevant work experience.

• Demonstrated experience managing cloud-based and on-premise data systems (AWS, Azure, etc.).

• Proficient in SQL, Python, and ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory and Snowflake.

• Strong understanding of data modeling (Kimball, Inmon) and database design.

• Practical experience with data transformation tools.

• Proficient in Power BI, Tableau, or comparable BI tools for reporting.

• Experience with cloud data services (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).

• Familiarity with data orchestration tools like Apache NiFi, Luigi, or Prefect.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (especially Azure DevOps).

• Knowledge of Git and collaboration platforms (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).

• Fluent English skills (both written and spoken).

• Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Data Analytics, Google Cloud Data Engineer) are an advantage.

• Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
