Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to collect data requirements.

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable data pipelines that integrate data from product databases and SaaS platforms.

• Construct ingestion pipelines into the Bronze layer, implement cleansing and conforming logic in the Silver layer, and develop governed Gold-layer models using dbt.

• Enhance pipeline performance, cost efficiency, and data quality.

• Create and implement data models and schemas that meet business needs for warehousing and reporting.

• Ensure consistency and integrity across data storage systems.

• Develop and oversee ETL processes.

• Monitor pipeline SLAs and data integration workflows; troubleshoot production issues and incidents.

• Work closely with data source owners to guarantee data availability and quality.

• Implement data quality controls and validation processes.

• Collaborate with product, GTM, AI stakeholders, analysts, and external clients to enable data products, direct access, embedded BI, and curated exports.

• Maintain catalog and lineage metadata.

• Provide technical support and expertise in data engineering tools and technologies.

• Contribute to API-based SaaS connectors, AI-consumable dataset design, and lakehouse cost/performance optimization.

• Continuously enhance data engineering practices and keep abreast of industry trends.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.

• Three to ten years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and ETL processes.

• Proficient in Python and SQL.

• Experience with AWS data services, particularly S3, Glue, and Athena.

• Practical experience with dbt for data transformation and modeling.

• Familiarity with data lakehouse patterns and medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers).

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, specifically Terraform.

• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.

• Understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, with the capability to prepare and structure data for AI-driven products.

• Proficient in both English and French, in both verbal and written communication.

• Authorized to work in Canada; work visa or transfer sponsorship is not available.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and customer satisfaction skills.

• Detail-oriented.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
