Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable data infrastructure, pipelines, and models for core data assets.

• Drive code quality, reliability, and engineering best practices across the data stack.

• Collaborate with the Risk team to develop robust, automated data pipelines for insurance reporting processes, including actuarial and bordereaux reports.

• Design and implement data integration solutions to merge siloed datasets throughout the organization.

• Establish unified data models and enhance data accessibility.

• Build and maintain data infrastructure that supports self-service analytics.

• Enforce data governance, quality controls, and security standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of data solutions from requirements gathering to delivery.

• Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a proven track record of delivering reliable data solutions.

• Proficiency with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake and BigQuery.

• Experience with transformation frameworks like dbt.

• Familiarity with orchestration platforms including Airflow and Dagster.

• Experience with data integration tools like Fivetran and Airbyte.

• Proficient in business intelligence platforms such as Tableau and Looker.

• Experience with Data Lakehouse architectures like Hudi and Iceberg is advantageous.

• Background in fintech or insurtech.

• Experience in building and maintaining data pipelines for financial product reporting, including actuarial reports, loan tapes, and regulatory filings.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals encompassing version control, testing, CI/CD, and data quality validation.

• Ability to work collaboratively with analytics, product, and risk teams.

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and contemporary data engineering best practices.
