Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead the strategic direction of the Enterprise Data Warehouse.

• Collaborate closely with team members across the organization to access pertinent data.

• Enable teams to make informed, data-driven decisions regarding the business.

• Design, construct, test, implement, and sustain comprehensive multi-source ELT pipelines while optimizing costs and adhering to data SLAs.

• Enhance and maintain the Data Warehouse infrastructure to reduce manual tasks, improve performance, and decrease the frequency and severity of incidents.

• Work in partnership with data platform, product engineering, and analytics teams to grasp data requirements and deliver dependable data products.

• Collaborate with the SRE team to ensure seamless and continuous service delivery to business partners.

• Aggregate, merge, and curate event data from internal business systems to facilitate crucial business decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Data Engineer.

• Hands-on experience with columnar/OLAP databases at a petabyte scale.

• Proven history of operationalizing data pipelines, including the development of monitoring, alerting, SLA dashboards, and runbooks for production systems.

• Strong background in creating tools and automation for database management and maintenance.

• Proficiency with modern ELT tools (e.g., dbt, Airbyte, Flink) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Airflow, Dagster).

• In-depth technical knowledge of Kimball and medallion architectures.

• Experience with one or more high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, and SQL).

• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.

• Experience using version control systems (e.g., git).

• Experience operating within the Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) framework.

• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.

• Experience in implementing APIs, Reverse ETL, and data contracts.

• Extensive experience with AWS and AWS Managed Services (e.g., Redshift, Aurora, Airflow, Flink).

• Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).

• Experience managing data lakes with open-source file formats (e.g., Iceberg).
