This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Design and create software components for data processing and persistence solutions that handle large-scale data.
• Provide robust development leadership to team members, ensuring code quality aligns with user requirements.
• Oversee the development of entire components or subsystems, encompassing design, coding, testing, and defect resolution.
• Engage in hands-on design and development using both open-source and commercial platforms.
• Establish and uphold development best practices while mentoring team members.
• Collaborate with project architects to address non-functional ETL/ELT pipeline requirements like robustness and performance.
• Assume responsibility for unit and integration testing standards and their execution within the team.
• Oversee software product due diligence and integration processes.
• Lead troubleshooting and performance tuning efforts.
• Partner with Operations teams to guarantee that application software is ready for operational use.
• Collaborate with Security Architects and accreditors to ensure adherence to legal and security standards.
• Provide guidance to customers, managers, and team members regarding estimated efforts and technical implications of user stories and journeys.
• Contribute to technical proposals during the sales process.
• Manage, coach, and develop a small team, concentrating on performance and career growth.
• Offer direction to the team while promoting collaborative problem-solving.
• Proven experience in leading a team of engineers to implement data-intensive system components.
• Familiarity with design standards (patterns), development standards (style guides), and operational readiness (automation, deployment).
• Proficient software development experience in Java, Scala, or Python.
• Significant commercial experience using Palantir.
• Software development experience with data-processing platforms from providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and Databricks.
• Expertise in SQL or SQL extensions for analytical applications.
• In-depth understanding of distributed data stores and data processing frameworks.
• Ability to communicate technical designs clearly and simply in both written and verbal forms.
• Skilled in designing analytical and operational data models.
• Comfortable with Data Warehouse methodologies and techniques.
• AWS/Azure/GCP certification in Data Services.
• Expertise in continuous improvement and contribution to data best practices.
• Active participation in development and/or technology communities.
