Data Center Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Supervise Carrier's responsibilities in data center construction initiatives.

• Direct the startup, commissioning, and field modification activities for Carrier's air- and water-cooled chillers in newly established data centers.

• Create and oversee detailed project plans to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.

• Monitor and analyze KPIs to evaluate project performance.

• Conduct progress meetings with stakeholders, addressing design, material delivery, and labor timelines.

• Guarantee that projects achieve or surpass anticipated profit margin targets.

• Order and monitor chiller components necessary for warranty fulfillment.

• Collaborate with sales teams, primary contractors, and end-users to meet project goals and deliverables.

• Act as Carrier's main point of contact between clients, commissioning authorities, general contractors, and subcontractors.

• Address customer issues professionally and promptly.

• Read and apply mechanical, electrical, and architectural blueprints.

• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and project specifications.

• Utilize knowledge of Building Automation System integration.

• Manage change orders effectively to prevent scope creep and maintain project integrity.

• Predict monthly revenue by estimating costs for project completion.

• Oversee project documentation, including warranty processing and factory-generated service details.

• Uphold strict job safety standards throughout all projects.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, factory operations, field service, commissioning authorities, general contractors, and subcontractors.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• More than 5 years of project management experience coordinating schedules, deliverables, and activities involving various stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and/or customers; OR over 4 years of experience in supporting mechanical, electrical, controls, commissioning, construction, or field service projects.

• At least 2 years of experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical mechanical systems documentation.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 60% of the time within the USA as required by business needs.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering; or a Master's degree/MBA (preferred).

• Experience in the data center industry with water- or air-cooled chillers (preferred).

• Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including centrifugal chillers, Cooling Distribution Unit systems, and airside equipment (preferred).

• Project Management Professional certification (preferred).

• Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification or experience with Building Automation Systems (preferred).

• Strong capability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Strong aptitude for building rapport and trust with customers through attentive listening and effective solutions.
