Data Capability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Ensure that the current service mapping is precise and up-to-date across all hosts, servers, and applications.

• Broaden the mapping coverage to include certificates, websites, agents, and SaaS applications.

• Engage in workflows for onboarding new applications and capabilities into the CMDB.

• Utilize discovery and software-asset tools to enhance inventory accuracy.

• Enhance the service catalog and metadata, ticket routing and assignment-group data, as well as Dataverse structures that support delivery capabilities like the AskIT service chatbot.

• Prepare data for AI integration by ensuring it is complete, free from ambiguity, and semantically accurate.

• Utilize existing Dataverse schemas, discovery tools, and search indexes instead of creating new infrastructure.

• Make data easily consumable without the need for re-verification by transforming recurring data issues into standardized quality practices.

• Operate independently under the guidance of a Senior Manager.

• Assess coverage, data reliability, application onboarding duration, and the reusability of enhancements in data quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, data management, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Between five to eight years of experience in IT data, configuration/asset management, or a role closely related to data engineering.

• Proven ownership of a specific data domain.

• Practical experience with CMDB and service mapping principles, including configuration items, relationships, and service dependencies.

• Familiarity with Lansweeper, agent-based discovery, and software asset management systems.

• Knowledge of certificates, websites, agents, and SaaS applications as asset categories.

• Strong foundational skills in data quality, including profiling, deduplication, normalization, completeness, and accuracy assessment.

• Hands-on experience with querying and shaping data in Dataverse or a similar relational/low-code data platform.

• Ability to independently investigate, validate, and rectify data at scale.

• Understanding of data readiness for AI systems, focusing on completeness, disambiguation, and clean semantics.

• Capability to integrate quality into onboarding processes and establish repeatable practices.

• Proficiency in communicating data-related issues and their business implications to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, Azure AI Search, or similar technologies is a plus.

• Exposure to vulnerability or exposure management as a data user is a plus.

• Familiarity with ITIL or a data management certification such as DAMA/CDMP is advantageous.
