Data & Analytics Business Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• The Business Analyst will collaborate with the Analytics team to create functional technical requirements at Cornerstone.

• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand, document, and prioritize analytics and reporting needs.

• Convert business requirements into precise user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.

• Keep Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and backlog items organized in accordance with Agile methodologies.

• Discover opportunities for process enhancements, automation, and data-driven decision-making.

• Utilize AI-assisted tools to analyze requirements, spot patterns, and expedite documentation (e.g., BRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria).

• Conduct lightweight data analysis and exploratory validation using SQL, Excel, or other tools.

• Create quick-turn, non-complex reporting solutions with Power BI, Excel, and SQL, while leveraging AI-assisted features to speed up dashboard creation, improve visualizations, and facilitate natural language-based data exploration.

• Assist stakeholders with self-service analytics solutions and quick insights.

• Verify data accuracy in UAT and production environments.

• Employ AI-enabled analytics capabilities to hasten data exploration, highlight trends, and produce actionable insights.

• Serve as a bridge between business users, data engineers, and developers.

• Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, including IT, Data Warehouse, and Operations.

• Lead requirement discussions, backlog grooming sessions, and alignment meetings.

• Present complex data insights in a straightforward, concise, and business-friendly manner.

• Engage actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives).

• Manage and prioritize backlog items using tools such as Azure DevOps.

• Ensure that deliverables align with business objectives, timelines, and quality benchmarks.

• Support iterative development and continuous enhancement of analytics solutions.

• Create and implement test plans and test scenarios for analytics solutions.

• Lead or assist with UAT activities, ensuring business readiness and validation.

• Oversee defects, issues, and enhancements through structured tracking processes.

• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across various systems.

• Confirm that analytics solutions provide measurable business value and user adoption.

• Identify and resolve data gaps, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement.

• Advocate for best practices in data governance, quality, and reporting standards.

• Continuously seek opportunities to improve analytics processes and delivery efficiency through the adoption of AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

• 2+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within a technology or data-oriented environment.

• Proficient in Power BI, Excel, and SQL for data analysis and reporting.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

• Experience working in teams.

• Familiarity with data warehousing platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Oracle ADW).

• Background in Agile/Scrum environments.

• 2+ years of experience in project management.

• Knowledge of manufacturing or engineer-to-order environments.

• Experience using Azure DevOps or similar backlog management tools.

• Understanding of data modeling, KPIs, and reporting best practices.
