Data Analyst II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assist with daily analytics operations such as data extraction, cleansing, validation, transformation, and generating reports.

• Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations under the direction of senior analysts or technical leads.

• Contribute to the creation of AI-enabled tools, prototypes, automations, and data applications.

• Convert business requirements into tasks related to reporting, analytics, automation, or application support.

• Clearly communicate results, insights, assumptions, risks, and limitations.

• Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks, deliverables, documentation, and follow-ups.

• Utilize Power BI, reporting tools, dashboards, and other visualization techniques to present data to business stakeholders.

• Implement ETL processes to evaluate, clean, transform, and load datasets.

• Conduct data analysis and prepare technical reports, summaries, findings, and documentation.

• Aid in Python scripting, automation workflows, data preparation, and the development of reusable technical components.

• Assist with API-based, AI-assisted, and application-related workflows.

• Document data flows, report logic, process steps, assumptions, validation checks, prompts, and technical decisions.

• Collaborate with various teams to deliver actionable insights and technical support.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to enhancements in analytics, reporting, automation, and AI-enabled delivery.

• Uphold data integrity, security, quality, and documentation throughout the analytics and application development process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Over 3 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, analytics, information systems, automation, or a related technical field.

• Proficiency in independently writing and executing SQL queries across multiple tables.

• Experience in designing, building, or maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, data models, or similar reporting solutions.

• Strong skills in Power BI, SQL, and Python.

• Expertise in data cleaning, validation, transformation, and quality review.

• Practical experience with AI-enabled tools, automation, generative AI workflows, prompt-based tools, or AI-assisted application development.

• Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data from databases, spreadsheets, files, APIs, or business systems.

• Commitment to documentation, version control, automation, and repeatable processes.

• Capability to clearly explain technical information, data findings, limitations, and recommendations.

• Experience in collaborating across teams and following through on assigned work.

• Strong skills in planning, documentation, organization, and process tracking.

• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a mindset focused on continuous improvement.

• Ability to take ownership of smaller-scope tasks or workstreams while appropriately seeking guidance.

• Preferred experience with APIs, Python-based automation, lightweight application development, or AI-enabled prototypes.

• Preferred experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.

• Preferred experience with HTML, JavaScript, AngularJS, jQuery, or other front-end technologies.

• Preferred experience with prompt workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, structured outputs, agents, or evaluation workflows.

• Knowledge of the energy utility domain is preferred but not required.

• Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate, AWS Cloud Practitioner, or similar.
