Data Analyst

Posted 1 hour ago

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with stakeholders from various departments (Product Development, Marketing, DTC, B2B, Finance, Operations, Inventory Planning) to transform ambiguous inquiries into clear analyses, dashboards, and data products. You will oversee these processes from start to finish: defining scope, building, validating, and sharing findings.

• Create and sustain dbt models that convert raw data from source systems into reliable, well-documented datasets. Write tests and documentation that ensure both humans and AI systems can depend on the results.

• Develop and uphold the semantic context, dashboards, and reports utilized by the business for daily operations.

• Take ownership of metric definitions and business semantics. Facilitate agreement among stakeholders when discrepancies arise regarding definitions or numerical values.

• Review and refine AI-generated SQL, dbt models, and Python code, using your judgment to identify issues that may pass tests but are semantically incorrect. The majority of your output will stem from code you have collaborated on with AI agents, with your data intuition ensuring its reliability.

• Explore ambiguous data inquiries where the answers are not readily available in the schema: engage with source-system owners, examine edge cases, resolve conflicting definitions, and enhance our understanding of the business model.

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of Stio’s data infrastructure — currently utilizing Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, GitHub, Power BI, R, and Python — and participate in discussions about the future evolution of the tech stack.

• Enhance data governance for both the Data & Analytics team and the broader business by creating practical documentation that AI agents can utilize as context for future projects.

• Regularly update your skills as the field of data analytics advances. This aspect is integral to the role, not merely an afterthought.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional experience as a data analyst, analytics engineer, or in a comparable position.

• Proficient in advanced SQL: CTEs, window functions, adept at managing messy real-world data, and capable of analyzing query plans to identify anomalies.

• Practical experience with dbt, including creating models, tests, and documentation. While you don’t need to have initiated a dbt project from the ground up, you should be comfortable contributing to one and understand best practices.

• Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, Microsoft Fabric, or similar platforms).

• Experience using version control with Git/GitHub as part of your standard workflow.

• Background as a developer with at least one BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Omni, or similar).

• A genuine perspective on AI-assisted development in analytics — understanding its strengths, weaknesses, and strategies to ensure trustworthy output.

• Proven track record of building collaborative and trustworthy relationships with non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to effectively present findings to leadership through verbal, written, and visual communication.

🏝️ Benefits

• Medical, Dental, and Vision plans.

• Company-paid Long Term Disability.

• Employee Assistance Programs.

• 401k with matching contributions.

• Generous paid time off policies.

• Gear testing benefits, perks, and more.
