This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.
• Take charge of the data that supports Mercuryo’s payments operations from initial product logging to final dashboard creation.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Partnerships, and Data Engineering to convert business inquiries into dependable datasets.
• Develop a transaction cost model that encompasses acquirer, scheme, FX, KYC, fraud, chargeback, blockchain, and custody expenses.
• Assist in product launches by partnering with engineers and product managers to ensure accurate data logging.
• Establish protocols for revenue and cost recognition, and deliver marts and dashboards.
• Create and sustain dashboards using Metabase or Tableau.
• Implement data-quality checks and alerts utilizing dbt tests and Airflow checks, with notifications to Slack and Jira.
• Address data gaps across internal systems, blockchain, custody, and exchanges.
• Fine-tune alerts to maintain their usefulness and minimize noise.
• Assign acquirer fees, interchange and scheme charges, FX costs, KYC, transaction monitoring, fraud screening, chargeback expenses, and blockchain and custody fees to each transaction.
• Reconcile partner invoices and settlement reports against internal data on a monthly basis.
• Identify and assess the root causes of discrepancies and assist the business in recovering any lost funds.
• Automate manual reconciliation processes.
• Define the fee and cost structures for new acquirers, payment methods, and products.
• Outline data mappings for Data Engineering implementation.
• Validate data prior to its entry into reporting.
• A minimum of 5 years in data analytics or analytics engineering, preferably within payments, fintech, e-money, or crypto sectors.
• Proficiency in SQL for large transactional datasets, including window functions, deduplication, incremental logic, and performance tuning.
• Capability to read and safely refactor a complex 1,000-line model created by someone else.
• Practical experience with dbt or similar tools and a git-based workflow, including pull requests and code reviews.
• Familiarity with Airflow.
• Strong understanding of card payment economics, including acquiring, interchange and scheme fees (IC++), settlement processes, chargebacks, 3DS, and declines.
• Awareness of alternative payment methods.
• Experience in reconciling settlement or invoice files with internal ledgers and providing cent-level explanations for discrepancies.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Metabase, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Nice to have: understanding of crypto infrastructure, including on-chain transactions, custody platforms, exchange APIs, and network fees.
• Nice to have: experience with KYC/AML and fraud-prevention vendors along with their pricing models.
• Nice to have: familiarity with ClickHouse, StarRocks, or another MPP database.
• Nice to have: experience in constructing P&L or unit-economics models in collaboration with Finance.
