This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +2 more states.
• Accountable for data mining, preparation, and reporting activities.
• Prepare and execute analyses and studies, including needs and gaps assessments.
• Leverage expertise to assess the accuracy and reasonableness of data, recommendations, and proposed solutions.
• Document and summarize findings, while developing and recommending solutions to customer challenges.
• Prepare large datasets, implement data models created by others, and provide database support for client solutions.
• Essential member of a data science project team, assisting data scientists or other consultants with assigned tasks.
• Four (4) years of relevant experience in applied research, big data analytics, statistics, applied mathematics, data science, computer science, operations research, or other closely related quantitative or mathematical fields.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in applied data science research or big data analytics.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a closely related scientific or technical discipline.
• A Master’s degree may substitute for up to two (2) years of relevant experience.
• A PhD may also be considered as a substitute for experience.
• Proficient in data mining methods, databases, data visualization, and machine learning.
• Experience with analytical techniques such as anomaly detection, clustering, and time-series analysis (e.g., ARIMA).
• Familiarity with implementing NLP concepts including preprocessing (stemming, etc.), TF-IDF, Named Entity Recognition, and LLMs.
• Strong SQL capabilities and adept at identifying data-related issues.
• Experience with Qlik.
• Proficient in Tableau.
• Familiar with PowerBI tools.
• Knowledgeable in Databricks or similar cloud-based distributed database technologies.
• Understanding of database systems and design principles.
• Demonstrated ability in cleaning, managing, optimizing performance, and processing large datasets.
• Proven experience in an AWS environment (AWS certifications preferred).
• Familiar with industry best practices for software-hardware optimization when handling large data sets.
• Willingness to travel and work on-site at client locations as required.
