This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Assist in the creation of a repository of knowledge and tools centered on the electrification of freight corridors, which includes researching and organizing pertinent data and resources, as well as refining and compiling existing tools.
• Aid in the formulation of a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model that evaluates the effects of various policy measures on the economics of vehicles (e.g., road charges, feebates, etc.) for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, integrating essential vehicle, energy, infrastructure, operational, and financing parameters.
• Convert analytical findings into clear visual representations, summaries, and accessible outputs for policymakers and other stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with members of the Drive to Zero team and other CALSTART teams to prepare existing tools and resources for global adaptation and replication.
• Provide support for additional research and analytical tasks related to zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, infrastructure, and enabling policy as required.
• Intern Project Key Deliverables: Toolkit for freight corridor electrification deployments
• Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a Master's degree in engineering, energy, transportation, environmental science, economics, data science, public policy, or a related discipline.
• Experience in developing quantitative models, especially TCO, techno-economic, financial, or policy-impact models.
• Familiarity with web-based tools, databases, dashboards, or digital knowledge platforms.
• Understanding of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, transportation electrification, charging infrastructure, or energy systems.
• Knowledge of clean transportation policies and the influence of incentives, taxation, regulation, and other policy mechanisms on vehicle economics.
• Experienced in translating analytical work into intuitive and user-friendly tools or visualizations.
• Interest in contributing to an international environment and assisting governments and other stakeholders in the shift toward zero-emission transportation.
