Cytogenetic Analyst, FISH

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Conduct FISH analysis, which includes the examination and imaging of digitized images.

• Analyze metaphase spreads through computerized imaging.

• Review cytogenetic cases, test requisitions, documentation, and computerized images.

• Summarize test findings using ISCN nomenclature.

• Differentiate between normal and abnormal test results.

• Oversee, operate, and troubleshoot equipment, software, and applications.

• Make informed technical decisions concerning testing and problem resolution.

• Deliver accurate and prompt test results to ensure quality patient care.

• Report any issues to the general supervisor.

• Collaborate with the general supervisor in the development and review of protocols and policies.

• Offer technical insights to senior technologists.

• Adhere to company policies and procedures.

• Ensure a safe working environment.

• Conduct onscreen FISH analysis, with occasional chromosome work using Metasystems (Neon) and Applied Spectral Imaging (ASI) digital platforms.

• Work Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, in a remote, multi-site setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.

• ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG).

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in FISH and Chromosomes for Oncology Cytogenetics.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Proficient in computer use.

• Familiarity with laboratory information systems is advantageous.

• Strong attention to detail along with excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to successfully pass a standardized color blindness test.

• Willingness to work overtime or other shifts as needed by the business.

• Non-traditional degrees with relevant science credits that meet CLIA standards may fulfill educational requirements.

• A dedicated home office space that is not shared with others and complies with HIPAA regulations.

• Consent to have home address included in reports of analyzed or reported cases, as mandated by CMS.

• Wired internet connection with a minimum speed of 100 Mb/sec.

• Ability to effectively work remotely in a dynamic, multi-site environment while managing competing priorities.
