Cyber Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Formulate and execute security policies and procedures tailored for project environments, ensuring they are in line with industry standards and government regulations (PSPF, ISM).

• Oversee, evaluate, and manage vulnerabilities in systems and applications, while configuring security tools such as firewalls, IDS, and anti-malware software in partnership with the IT team.

• Develop and uphold documentation for security protocols, incident response strategies, and guidelines to guarantee consistency and compliance across different projects.

• Remain updated on cybersecurity developments and provide security awareness training to cultivate a proactive security culture among stakeholders and partners.

• Lead incident response initiatives, which include containment, eradication, recovery, and communicating risks and solutions to enhance security practices.

• Perform thorough cyber risk assessments of systems and technologies to ensure adherence to government policies and strengthen overall security posture.

• Continuously enhance cybersecurity services by adopting new strategies, tools, and best practices to remain ahead of emerging threats.

• Manage and uphold agreed service levels, ensuring that cybersecurity operations are aligned with organizational objectives.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• An active NV1 Security Clearance is required.

• Experience in a similar client-facing position, ideally in a Managed Services environment within a project-oriented role.

• Solid understanding of security technologies and industry best practices.

• Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards, including Essential Eight, ISO 27001, and NIST.

• Proficiency in Linux and Windows server administration.

• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

• Strong scripting capabilities (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and task execution.

• A wide-ranging knowledge of systems, networks, cloud platforms, Microsoft products, and security solutions.

• Understanding of Azure Networking.

• Experience with Aruba, FortiNet, and Juniper hardware.
