Cyber Security Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Perform risk assessments and ensure adherence to relevant Australian cybersecurity regulations and standards (e.g., Privacy Act, ASD Essential 8, ISO 27001).

• Oversee third-party security risks and assist in internal governance processes.

• Monitor security incidents, lead response initiatives, and investigate potential threats to mitigate their impact on client operations and ensure prompt resolution.

• Create and implement cybersecurity policies, provide security training to both staff and clients, and foster a culture of awareness and shared responsibility for information security.

• Identify vulnerabilities, manage patching activities, and advise on the design of secure infrastructure solutions that are in line with Australian best practices.

• Develop and sustain business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Collaborate with internal teams and generate clear, actionable security reports for clients and stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundation in cybersecurity with familiarity with Australian regulations (e.g., Privacy Act, ASD Essential 8).

• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+.

• Proficiency in security tools (SIEM, firewalls, cloud security) and vulnerability management.

• Capability to evaluate and address security risks and incidents.

• Excellent communication skills to convey complex security topics to non-technical teams.

• Highly organized and detail-oriented in executing security measures.

• Commitment to remaining informed about cybersecurity trends and pursuing applicable certifications.

• Understanding of Australian cybersecurity frameworks and regulations.
