This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Assemble comprehensive document packages and supply necessary information to customs brokers for export declarations.
• Examine declared values, country of origin, Incoterms, and product descriptions.
• Ensure the accuracy of export documentation and customs entries while complying with EU customs regulations.
• Draft replies and supporting materials for inquiries from customs authorities.
• Engage with customs brokers, transport companies, and customs officials.
• Investigate and rectify inconsistencies in export declarations and accompanying documents.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders during customs reviews and audits.
• Guarantee that urgent and non-standard customs cases are processed correctly and punctually.
• Evaluate product eligibility under preferential trade agreements.
• Oversee Supplier’s Declarations and compile information for EUR.1 certificates.
• Assist with T2 procedures and mandatory invoice declarations for San Marino.
• Maintain records for preferential and non-preferential origin.
• Manage customs processes for warranty replacements, return claims, repair shipments, and re-imports post-repair.
• Coordinate duty-free re-import procedures and special customs arrangements.
• Develop tailored solutions in accordance with applicable EU and local customs regulations, including the BAP system when needed.
• Identify and confirm HS codes for technical and manufacturing items.
• Work together with technical teams on product data and supporting documentation.
• Ensure alignment between product descriptions, technical specifications, HS codes, and customs documentation.
• Organize special export procedures for end-of-period deliveries.
• Review export transactions and address documentation challenges during month-end closing.
• Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, finance, and internal teams to ensure timely shipment processing.
• Provide insights on export requirements and conduct pre-shipment documentation audits.
• Discover opportunities to enhance customs and export workflows.
• Partner with IT and operations teams to improve ERP systems and automate processes.
• Support scalable and dependable customs compliance methodologies.
• 3–5+ years of relevant experience as a Customs Specialist, Customs Brokerage Manager, Export Compliance Specialist, or a similar role in customs operations.
• Strong practical understanding of EU export customs procedures, rules of origin, and preferential trade agreements.
• Direct experience with EUR.1 certificates, Supplier’s Declarations, T2 procedures, and export documentation.
• Proven track record in determining and verifying HS codes, particularly for technical or manufacturing products.
• Experience in direct communication with customs authorities and managing third-party customs brokers.
• Hands-on experience with returns, warranty replacements, repairs, and re-import procedures.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and customs software or system integrations.
• Keen attention to detail when assessing complex commercial and customs documentation.
• Demonstrated ownership and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to independently manage intricate cases.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to thrive under tight deadlines, especially during month-end closing periods.
• Process-oriented outlook and a commitment to continuous improvement and automation.
• Proficiency in English at a B2/C1 level for day-to-day operations and cross-functional engagement.
• Current residence and authorization to work within the European Union.
• Additional skills in other European languages would be an asset.
