This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the main technical escalation point for customer database issues through email, ticketing systems, and video conferencing.
• Assess and prioritize incoming issues while adhering to SLA targets and utilizing AI tools.
• Analyze intricate problems across relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes, and cloud object storage solutions.
• Replicate bugs by examining connector logs, query plans, replication slots, transaction logs, sync states, and destination table statuses.
• Assist with onboarding and troubleshooting related to SSH tunnels, network configurations, database permissions, CDC setups, and warehouse/lake authentications.
• Aid customers in constructing and debugging database integrations, encompassing authentication, SSL/SSH, CDC, schema evolution, incremental cursors, and typed destination tables.
• Confirm database version compatibility and maintain testing environments.
• Support clients utilizing Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, S3, GCS, Azure Blob, Databricks, Iceberg, Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL, and ClickHouse.
• Diagnose replication behavior, cursor selection, refresh strategies, and sync-state recovery.
• Contribute to Airbyte's open-source database connectors and Java/Kotlin Bulk CDK.
• Evaluate and test community submissions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success teams.
• Deliver enterprise-level technical onboarding, CDC architecture evaluations, schema modeling, and production-readiness assessments.
• Mentor and train Technical Support Engineers on database connector principles.
• Generate and update knowledge-base articles, troubleshooting manuals, and connector documentation.
• Record debugging procedures and performance-tuning runbooks.
• Recognize opportunities for AI-driven automation and process enhancements.
• Lead initiatives to bridge support gaps and manage distinct projects.
• 2+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, technical support, DevOps, QA, or a comparable role supporting developers or technical users.
• Proficiency in SQL, with practical experience analyzing query plans, isolation levels, and performance limitations.
• Expertise in Java or Kotlin; capable of reading, writing, and debugging JVM-based connector code.
• Practical experience with relational databases, data warehouses, or data lakes, including CDC, schema evolution, and query optimization.
• Familiarity with JDBC and common database drivers.
• Comfortable troubleshooting connection, authentication, SSL, and SSH tunnel issues.
• Knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure, and data integration concepts, including ELT/ETL workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• High tolerance for uncertainty and a proactive self-starter attitude.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, ClickHouse, or similar systems.
• Familiarity with data lakes and open table formats like Iceberg and Delta Lake, as well as cloud object storage such as S3, GCS, and Azure Blob.
• Awareness of Airbyte's Bulk CDK or contributions to open-source database connectors.
• Experience with Kubernetes or Docker and multi-tenant architectures.
• Background in supporting developer-facing or embedded/platform products within a B2B SaaS environment.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub-based open-source processes.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and automated playbooks or runbooks.
