Customer Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-speed internet, video, and voice networks, along with the associated wiring and equipment.

• Maintaining and repairing outside plant facilities within designated geographic service regions.

• Climbing poles, utilizing a shovel and pick to excavate and bury cables, working in utility access holes or controlled environmental vaults (CEV), and locating buried telephone lines.

• Adhering to all safety rules and regulations.

• Supporting other technical personnel in the execution of their responsibilities when needed.

• Actively engaging in sales and marketing initiatives.

• Leading customer-facing work and managing sales referrals.


⛳️ Requirements

• A High School diploma or equivalent experience.

• Capability to distinguish colors on facilities.

• Ability to manage 28-foot extension ladders (with routine work up to 75 lbs.) and utility access hole covers (up to 150 lbs.).

• Capacity to successfully complete service technician boot camp training, including POTS/DSL installation/repair, cable splicing/maintenance, basic transmissions, air pressure, and HSI installations (both self and full).

• Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office applications.

• Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, utility holes).

• Capability to work at heights (e.g., on ladders).

• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and at various times of the day or night.

• A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

• A positive and professional appearance and demeanor when representing the company’s products and services to customers.

• Accountability and dependability (being on time and prepared when scheduled and available for on-call duties as needed).

• Teamwork (developing technical expertise to efficiently complete tasks and meet work group service measures).

• Active listening skills (the ability to take input from customers, APS, and colleagues to resolve issues and enhance skills).

• Ability to ask pertinent questions to ensure swift problem resolution or to clarify information and instructions.

• A commitment to active learning (an inquisitive nature for acquiring additional information and continuously working to enhance skills and knowledge).
