Customer Reliability Engineer – Airflow

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Acquire knowledge and develop proficiency in Airflow, data engineering, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering.

• Address complex Apache Airflow challenges for clients, focusing on configuration enhancements and bug resolution.

• Allocate up to 20% of your work hours to side projects, such as contributing to the open-source Airflow repository or creating internal monitoring and alerting systems.

• Engage with Astronomer’s cloud-native managed Airflow product.

• Collaborate directly with customer data engineers, system administrators, DevOps teams, and management.

• Provide insights that can influence the future direction of the Airflow project.

• Take ownership of the customer experience by prioritizing and resolving issues, adhering to SLAs, and offering guidance towards production readiness.

• Participate remotely as part of a fully distributed team.

• Assist in maintaining 24x7 coverage during a designated six-hour pager period within the workday.

• Engage in a paid on-call rotation for weekend support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Background in data engineering.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience with Python.

• At least 1 year of experience in Airflow administration and DAG development.

• Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and container technologies.

• Experience with distributed systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Capability to work autonomously and independently.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer interactions via ticketing systems and Zoom.

• Experience mentoring junior team members.

• Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.

• Customer support experience is a bonus.

• Familiarity with SQL and PostgreSQL is a bonus.

• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, dbt, or similar data engineering tools is a bonus.
