Customer Quality Liaison

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Act as the main point of contact between the manufacturing facility and key OEM clients regarding all quality-related issues.

• Handle customer quality concerns from initial containment to root cause analysis and resolution.

• Ensure that deliverables meet or surpass customer quality standards.

• Develop trusted relationships with customer quality representatives.

• Organize regular customer quality review meetings, scorecards, and performance updates.

• Maintain and enhance relationships with customer supplier quality engineers (SQEs) and quality leadership.

• Proactively share quality performance trends, risks, and improvement initiatives with customer stakeholders.

• Collaborate with the CVG Manager on the Complaint Management Process.

• Assist with 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and Is/Is Not analysis for nonconformances reported by customers.

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain, to address quality issues.

• Ensure that corrective actions are validated, documented, and sustained to prevent recurrence.

• Monitor and report on key quality metrics such as PPM, warranty returns, customer scorecards, and internal defect rates.

• Participate in customer audits, layered process audits (LPA), and prepare for plant walkthroughs.

• Collaborate with DTNA & CVG to identify and address in-process quality issues as required.

• Support new product launches with a particular emphasis on customer-identified critical and significant characteristics.

• Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

• Prepare and present weekly/monthly quality reports for the CVG Manager and DTNA.

• Keep accurate records within the quality management system (QMS) and customer-specific portals.

• Track open corrective action items to completion with documented evidence.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related technical field; equivalent experience will be considered.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in quality engineering or as a quality liaison within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive/commercial vehicle manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements (CSRs).

• Proven capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and component specifications.

• Strong data analysis skills; adept in Excel, Minitab, or similar statistical tools.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated history in customer-facing roles.

• Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting OEM customers such as PACCAR, Daimler Trucks, Navistar, or Volvo/Mack; ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt; Practical experience with 8D, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and MSA; Knowledge of commercial vehicle seating, chassis, cab, or structural component manufacturing; Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools such as VSM, kaizen, 5S, OEE, and takt time; Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus for facilities with US-Mexico operations.
