This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.
• Conduct research, author, and organize comprehensive training materials across various legal practice areas, professional skills, and leadership development topics pertinent to attorneys and paralegals.
• Create complete, scalable learning content packages that include module scripts, narration texts, facilitator guides, participant workbooks, knowledge assessments, discussion guides, and job aids.
• Simplify intricate legal concepts, procedures, and skills into clear, accessible, scenario-based learning content suitable for practitioners with different experience levels.
• Design realistic and scalable case studies, practice scenarios, and skill application exercises that accurately reflect the daily realities of family law practice.
• Ensure content accurately represents jurisdictional nuances across MFL’s operating states, collaborating with subject matter experts.
• Structure, sequence, and establish learning objectives for multi-module training programs, ensuring a logical flow and a scalable, coherent curriculum architecture.
• Develop scalable program blueprints and content maps that outline scope, sequence, duration, format, and assessment strategies for each program.
• Utilize adult learning principles and evidence-based instructional design frameworks to ensure content promotes measurable competency development, rather than mere knowledge transfer.
• Work closely with managing attorneys, practice group leaders, and subject matter experts to gather substantial input and ensure the accuracy and relevance of the content.
• Create assessment strategies, including knowledge checks, practical simulations, and competency rubrics, to evaluate learner progress and program effectiveness.
• Provide the Learning Experience Designer with complete, well-organized content packages that are production-ready — including clear scripts, annotated outlines, and design intent notes.
• Review finalized design deliverables to ensure the integrity of the content is upheld throughout the production process.
• Maintain and refresh existing training content to reflect changes in law, firm policies, and best practices.
• Develop assessment and evaluation measures to ascertain the effectiveness of training, including completion rates, assessment outcomes, learner feedback, practical exercises, and observed skill application.
• Contribute to program evaluation by analyzing assessment data and learner feedback to guide content revisions.
• Stay updated on advancements in family law, legal professional development, and adult learning research relevant to MFL's training priorities.
• Over 3 years of experience in curriculum development, instructional content design, or a related field, with proven ability to produce high-quality, structured written content.
• Outstanding writing and communication skills, with the capacity to write clearly for both practitioner and novice audiences.
• Strong grasp of adult learning theory, instructional design frameworks (such as ADDIE, SAM, backward design, or equivalent), and competency-based training development.
• Experience in conducting needs analyses and developing learning objectives that align with measurable outcomes.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple content projects concurrently, and deliver complete outputs by deadlines.
• Comfort in collaborating with subject matter experts to extract, structure, and synthesize complex technical information into learning content.
• Preferred: Background in legal education, paralegal studies, or professional development within a law firm or legal services environment.
• Familiarity with family law concepts and multi-jurisdictional practice (experience in any of MFL's practice states is beneficial).
• Experience in developing scenario-based and simulation-style learning content for professional skills.
• Familiarity with LMS platforms and understanding of how content is organized and delivered in a digital learning environment.
• Experience with legal research tools or ability to quickly develop a working knowledge of unfamiliar legal topics.
• J.D. or paralegal certification, or equivalent legal professional experience.
