Criminal Researcher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review and evaluate court record documents and dockets with exceptional precision.

• Perform comprehensive online research utilizing government databases and tools.

• Request and authenticate legal documents from researchers and court clerks.

• Interpret legal documents while adhering to client-specific and federal/state regulations (knowledge of FCRA is advantageous).

• Prepare detailed, high-quality investigative reports within defined deadlines.

• Keep real-time updates in internal systems and highlight any delays or inconsistencies.

• Effectively communicate with courts, clerks, and other governmental bodies.

• Propose and implement enhancements in processes, workflows, and team communication.

• Ensure the confidentiality and security of all sensitive information.

• Conduct online and/or in-person searches of public court records across multiple jurisdictions.

• Accurately identify, interpret, and document information related to criminal cases.

• Adhere to established KENTECH research protocols and comply with FCRA procedures.

• Maintain daily productivity and quality benchmarks.

• Identify and report any discrepancies, sealed records, or potential identity mismatches.

• Communicate with team leads for clarification or escalation when necessary.

• Log research activities and maintain chain-of-custody documentation within the case management system.

• Stay informed about jurisdiction-specific access requirements and legal updates.

• Previous experience in criminal records research (2+ years preferred).

• Strong understanding of U.S. court systems and legal terminology.

• Ability to work independently and meet stringent deadlines.

• High-speed internet and a secure home office environment.

• Knowledge of FCRA is mandatory.

• Background in legal research, investigations, or data verification is a plus.

• Previous experience with background screening firms or CRAs is advantageous.

• Familiarity with TazWorks, ClearStar, or similar platforms is beneficial.

• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
