This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct comprehensive legal and factual research.
• Draft motions, legal memoranda, resource guides, position statements, model legislation, and various other written materials.
• Support attorneys in addressing cases related to crimes against animals.
• Aid in expanding the scope of animal law to achieve equitable outcomes for animal victims.
• Provide investigative and trial-level support to professionals in the criminal justice system.
• Create amicus curiae briefs.
• Assist in legislative initiatives aimed at enhancing animal cruelty laws.
• Educate practitioners in criminal justice about both criminal law and animal law.
• Develop legal arguments related to criminal jurisprudence and animal welfare.
• Engage in networking and activities aligned with the organization’s mission.
• Must be a current 2L (or part-time program equivalent) or LLM student enrolled in an ABA accredited law school.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Genuine passion for animal protection is essential.
• Exceptional legal research and writing abilities, with the capacity to adapt voice and style for diverse audiences.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capability to collaborate effectively in a mission-driven, team-centric environment.
• Openness to undertake a range of tasks within the realm of animal law.
• Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and remotely.
• Discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters is crucial.
• Access to a computer with internet connectivity and proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• Familiarity with animal law, criminal law, or both is preferred.

• Training sessions led by leading experts in animal law.
• Option to structure the role as an unpaid externship or a student volunteer position.
• Academic credit may be available for externships, depending on law school policies.
