This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the complete manual underwriting process for new SMB and commercial card clients, utilizing bureau data and cash flow analysis to make informed credit decisions.
• Develop, evaluate, and enhance risk origination strategies for SMB and commercial credit cards, including line assignments, spending controls, and account management protocols.
• Proactively modify credit card policies according to portfolio performance and emerging risk trends.
• Create strategies that effectively drive key performance indicators (KPIs) such as approval rates, new account acquisitions, loss rates, profit margins, and more.
• Collaborate with data scientists to develop top-tier commercial credit risk and cash flow models.
• Partner with product teams to establish modern credit stacks and data strategies utilizing bureau, bank, and cash flow datasets, including financial statements, accounts payable, liquidity information, etc.
• Oversee credit lines, spending controls, and exposure within the SMB and commercial portfolio, taking proactive, risk-based actions as account performance changes.
• Establish a tracking and early warning system for the portfolio, focusing on utilization, payment behaviors, and concentration risks.
• Draft comprehensive underwriting and risk documentation.
• Assist banking partners with model validation and governance processes.
• Regularly report KPIs and risk performance metrics to senior management.
• Act as a risk consultant for banking partners and customers, offering recommendations for enhancing credit strategies.
• Work collaboratively across Banking, Product, Finance, and Capital Markets as both a strategic internal resource and external advisor.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing credit card risk and pricing programs, preferably within a fintech environment, with practical manual underwriting experience in SMB and/or commercial credit card products.
• Demonstrated ownership of the SMB and commercial credit card lifecycle, including:
• Manual underwriting using both bureau data and cash flow analysis, along with financial statement assessments.
• Development, monitoring, and adjustment of credit policies and risk strategies.
• Line assignment, spending controls, and account management strategy formulation.
• Conducting risk assessments for prospective clients.
• Implementing acquisition strategies across card programs.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Math, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Excel and SQL modeling.
• Strong skills in financial statement analysis, accounts payable, and liquidity assessment for SMB and commercial entities.
• Ability to leverage data to foster alignment among stakeholders with conflicting priorities.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, finance, compliance, banking partners, and capital providers.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of simplifying complex credit concepts for executive teams, partners, and cross-functional audiences (both written and verbal).
• Comfortable operating in a build environment, effectively transitioning between strategy and execution without a large support team.

• Proven ability to adapt credit strategies in response to shifts in portfolio performance or macroeconomic conditions.
