This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a subject matter expert on privacy legislation, applying your knowledge across all business functions within our global organization.
• Oversee legal assessments related to AI and privacy for products and features, ensuring that privacy-by-design principles are incorporated from the onset of the development process.
• Offer practical business advice on intricate data usage scenarios, including AI projects.
• Collaborate closely with the Product, AI, Marketing, and Engineering teams to ensure legal obligations are met alongside operational controls and business processes.
• Create and uphold internal policies and playbooks that provide teams with clear legal frameworks, risk considerations, and best practices for the responsible use of AI.
• Work in conjunction with Legislative and Public Policy teams to assess proposed AI and privacy legislation and bolster the company’s advocacy initiatives.
• Enhance and expand our privacy and AI programs by leading impact assessments (e.g., DPIAs, AI risk assessments) and documenting data processing activities.
• Keep abreast of legal and regulatory changes in privacy and AI fields, translating these developments into clear, business-friendly guidance.
• Assist with incident response for privacy and AI-related issues, partnering with cross-functional teams from detection through to mitigation.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Over 5 years of experience providing counsel on privacy and data management at a leading law firm or in-house legal department.
• Proficiency in consumer privacy regulations, including comprehensive state and consumer health data laws, consumer protection statutes, AI legislation, and healthcare privacy frameworks.
• A proven ability to build relationships across AI, Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams, delivering strategic and pragmatic legal advice.
• Experience in negotiating U.S. and international privacy and AI agreements, including Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and Business Associate Agreements (BAAs).
• Strong legal acumen and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for clearly articulating complex legal concepts to cross-functional teams.
