This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct research, interpret, and offer legal advice on matters concerning privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, consumer protection, anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, financial crimes, and financial services regulations.
• Provide guidance to business partners on the privacy and data protection obligations impacting products, services, operations, and customer interactions.
• Assist in the development of privacy policies, notices, procedures, compliance frameworks, and governance structures related to AML.
• Offer legal support regarding the collection, use, sharing, retention, and safeguarding of personal information.
• Aid in addressing issues related to cybersecurity, data incidents, information security, online privacy, emerging technologies, and legal matters concerning artificial intelligence (AI).
• Evaluate and compose privacy and data protection clauses in commercial contracts while supporting negotiations and requests for proposals (RFPs).
• Provide assistance with records retention and information governance issues.
• Support regulatory audits, inquiries, internal assessments, remediation initiatives, and associated tasks.
• Keep abreast of new legal, regulatory, enforcement, technology, AI, and industry trends.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on the ethical development, procurement, and application of AI-driven tools.
• Assist Compliance and Financial Crimes teams with AML obligations, customer identification, due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity, and sanctions screening.
• Prepare legal memoranda, regulatory evaluations, summaries, presentations, policies, and various other documentation.
• Simplify complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable directives.
• Cultivate relationships across Legal, Compliance, Financial Crimes, Risk, Technology, Cybersecurity, Product, Operations, and additional departments.
• Assume progressively greater responsibilities as knowledge and expertise expand.
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with a state bar.
• Minimum of 3 years of pertinent legal experience.
• Exceptional skills in legal research, analysis, writing, and problem-solving.
• Interest in privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, AML, financial crimes, and regulations concerning financial services.
• Capability to comprehend intricate legal requirements and convey them clearly and practically.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency in managing multiple matters and competing priorities.
• Collaborative mindset and readiness to engage across various functions and subject-matter areas.
• Intellectual curiosity, initiative, and eagerness to explore new legal domains.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and integrity when managing confidential and sensitive information.
• Reliable high-speed internet with a wired connection and an appropriate home workspace.
• Fiber, cable, or DSL internet service is mandatory.
• CIPP/US certification is a plus or a willingness to pursue it after joining (preferred).
